Race Committee Report:

What a perfect day of racing, for the last event in the 2010 CalCup race series. The weather gave us just what we required to get 5 races off, but I feel sure most racers feel like they raced 6 races, with the General Recall in race 2.

There should have been two extra bodies on the CalCup boat, but at the last moment, both went down with a ‘bug’. I was also rather ‘under the weather’, Rachel exhausted from 10 weeks of running Summer Camps, and Lyrah coming aboard the boat for the first time with her own concerns about being seasick, Mike graciously stepped down from racing when I informed him of my concerns about safety on the boat.

We had some excitement on the boat. Rachel lost her I-Phone overboard whilst setting the buoys with Mike. The anchor line got wrapped round the prop of the boat, and then the megaphone died. They do say everything comes in threes!

Skippers meeting was held promptly at 12.30pm. I announced that the CalCup End of Season Party, will be held on 25th September at BYC, and I will let all the racers know full details later.
Gave an update on the water access issue in Berkeley Marina, and thanked Jim McGrath, Paul Kamen and Steve Sylvester for everything they had been doing to try and get this issue resolved.
The last item was about all the behind the scenes work that I had been involved with for years at BYC, to enable the racers to take part with racing at BYC. (Dates will not affect StYFC race program.) Until the access issue is resolved, I am working with the BYC Commodore to try and get permits for test run race one Friday night, before the end of September, and the Winter Sunday Chowder races. We all understand, that sometimes there will not be enough wind for the windsurfers to be able to race, but there will be times when there is enough wind, and we all totally committed to getting you chaps another venue to race at. I will post up dated information onto the CalCup forum.

What a great 2010 CalCup season we have had. Not one skunked race this year!

We have all, organizers & RC, completely enjoyed the 2010 series, and are truly looking forward to more in 2011 CalCup Season.

There are so many people I have to thank for all of their support this year, and I hope I don’t forget anyone. Soheil Zahedi, the webmaster. Bryan Macdonald, Racing Rules Judge. David Wells, for Waterhound. Mike Percey, who keeps the boat afloat, trails it to wherever we race, sets the course, and then somehow goes out to race. Chenda Herstus, Al Mirel and Jason Ward, who were all there when I needed extra help. RC; Rachel Herrmann, (who has now helped me for a number of years,) Astrid Leitner. and L. Colvin. Last, but not least, Marley.

Thanks also go to everyone that raced with us this year.

It is a complete honor to me, to organize this event for you all. (The 2011 CalCup Race Season is not that far away.)

See you all at the End of Season Party.

Regards,
Jane.
